Setting
Oyster Point rests on the banks of the Newport River in the Croatan National Forest, set within coastal pine woods. It offers 15 campsites, each furnished with a tent pad, picnic table, fire grill, lantern post, and parking spur, along with two shared vault toilets. Water access is available via a small hand launch for canoes and kayaks, leading out into the river and the broader Croatan Saltwater Trail. The campground also acts as the southern trailhead for the 21-mile Neusiok Trail, which runs through local cypress swamps and pine bogs.
Getting there: From Newport, take SR 1154 to Forest Road 181 and turn right.
