Setting
North Core Cabin Camp features 16 primitive metal cabins on North Core Banks in Cape Lookout National Seashore. Accessible only by boat or vehicle ferry, the island setting consists of undeveloped barrier beaches, low dunes, and salt marshes. The camp offers 160-square-foot four-person cabins and 320-square-foot eight-person cabins, each outfitted with raised decks, bunk beds, storage counters, air-conditioning units, and outlets for guest-supplied generators. Potable water and a central bathhouse with hot showers are on site. Guests must bring all fuel, ice, bedding, and cooking supplies.
Getting there: From Morehead City, North Carolina, take Highway 70 east for approximately 30 miles. Continue straight on Highway 12 for 2.1 miles, then turn right onto Old Cedar Road and continue for 3.2 miles. Turn left onto Morris Marina Road and drive to the end of the road. Morris Marina Cabin Camps and Ferry Service is located at 1000 Morris Marina Drive, Atlantic, NC.
