Setting
Lake Powhatan Campground sits at 2,200 feet in a dense forest on the shores of Lake Powhatan within Pisgah National Forest. The facility features four shaded camping loops equipped with picnic tables, tent pads, campfire rings, flush toilets, and hot showers, with select sites providing full hookups alongside 12 custom glamping canvas tents. On-site features include a sandy swimming beach and trout fishing access, with local footpaths and mountain bike trails extending into the surrounding slopes.
Getting there: From Asheville, take I-26 to exit 33. Go south approximately 2 miles on State Route 191 to the Lake Powhatan Recreation Area sign. Turn right and follow signs to the campground.
