Minton Peak Lookout is a 14x14-foot cabin perched on a five-foot tower at 5,351 feet elevation, offering views of the Clark Fork Valley, Bitterroot Mountains, and Cabinet Range. Surrounded by evergreen forest, the cabin sleeps four on two twin beds with mattresses and is equipped with a wood stove, a two-burner cooktop, and a table with chairs. Outside, the site features a catwalk enclosure, a campfire ring, and an outhouse with a vault toilet. The lookout has no electricity or drinking water, requiring visitors to pack in all supplies.

Road difficulty 4 of 5 -- a difficult drive in. Recorded as maintained only for high-clearance vehicles, dirt, pitching to 14%, 100% of it on a shelf. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.

Cabins and shelters rather than pads. The nearest town, Osburn, is 25 mi off.

September normals 3664°F, 1.8″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
