Rombo Campground is set in a shaded ponderosa pine, fir, and cottonwood forest along the West Fork Bitterroot River at an elevation of 4,500 feet. The site draws campers for fly fishing, seasonal river rafting and kayaking, local peak hiking, and boating at Painted Rocks Lake five miles south. The facility features 16 gravel-spur sites equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and grills. Amenities include drinking water, accessible pit toilets, bear-proof dumpsters, and a bear-proof food storage locker for cyclists and ATV riders. The historic 1899 Alta Ranger Station is nearby.
