Setting
Whitetail Cabin is a historic 1930s Civilian Conservation Corps ranger station sitting at 4,048 feet in the Ashland Ranger District of Custer National Forest. The two-room log shelter is backed by ponderosa pines and steep rocky outcroppings where elk, deer, and wild turkey roam. On-site facilities include bunkbeds for four, an electric range, refrigerator, wood-burning stove, picnic table, fire ring, and an outhouse. Equestrian visitors have access to a corral, hitching rails, and a 5-acre fenced area. No drinking water is provided, so guests must bring their own supply.
