Bear Creek Campground sits in a draw at the base of the Madison Range, shaded by Douglas fir and aspen trees. The facility consists of 12 campsites split by Bear Creek; six northern sites include hitchrails and corrals for stock, while six southern sites are for non-equestrian use. Each site features a parking spot, picnic table, fire ring, food storage box, seasonal water hydrants, and vault toilets. The campground acts as a trailhead for the Middle Fork and Trail Fork trails leading into the Lee Metcalf Wilderness and up Sphinx Mountain.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.

Ash Mountain stands 3,066 ft above the site, 2.5 miles east. Darroch Creek runs 0.1 mi off. Most of them shaded. The nearest town, Pray, is 21 mi off.

September normals 3964°F, 1.8″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
