Up Up Lookout is a 40-foot wooden tower built in the 1930s on a rock pinnacle at 5,900 feet in the Bitterroot Mountains. Accessed via an open exterior stairway, the cabin accommodates up to four guests with one twin bed and mattress pad provided. It features propane lights and a heater, while a campfire ring with a grill, picnic table, and pit toilet sit at the base of the tower. There is no water or electricity. The adjacent Up Up Ridge Trail leads toward Ward and Eagle peaks, connecting to alpine lakes and high-elevation hiking trails.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
Cabins and shelters rather than pads. Gold Peak stands 1,145 ft above the site, 3.1 miles southwest. The nearest town, Thompson Falls, is 19 mi off.
