2.6 of the 29.9 miles in are maintained only for high-clearance vehicles. Gravel the whole way in (29.9 miles). Stretches run along a shelf with a drop of up to ~170 ft on the downhill side. Dead-end road -- no mapped turnaround; expect to back out or unhitch. A gate 11.9 miles in.
Bald Mountain stands 1,868 ft above the site, 1.2 miles southeast. A well-travelled stretch -- travellers have camped along here. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off. The nearest town, Wallace, is 15 mi off.
