Setting
Yaak River Campground sits at the confluence of the Kootenai and Yaak Rivers in northwestern Montana, nestled among mature evergreens at 1,900 feet. The facility has 45 individual sites spanning both sides of the Yaak River, plus a reservable group site for up to 75 people with grills and a campfire circle. Sites average 32 feet in length and include tables and fire rings. Amenities feature vault toilets, drinking water, garbage service, and a primitive boat ramp in Loop B accessing the Kootenai River. Kootenai Falls and its swinging bridge are located 15 miles east.
Getting there: From Troy, travel west on Highway 2 for approximately 7 miles. The fee station and campground hosts are located on the east side of the road, prior to crossing the Yaak River.
