Setting
Yaak Mountain Lookout sits atop a 45-foot tower at 4,977 feet elevation in the Kootenai National Forest. The cabin sleeps up to four people with two twin beds and four mattresses, featuring a wrap-around catwalk, propane stove, heater, lights, table, chairs, and an outdoor vault toilet. There is no water or electricity available on-site. Guests can explore the former fire lookout structures on Yaak Mountain Road, fish for trout in the nearby Yaak and Kootenai rivers, or drive to Yaak Falls located a short distance northwest.
Getting there: From Troy, Montana, follow Highway 2 west for 3 miles to the East Side Road 176. Follow the East Side Road 176 for 2 miles north to the Kilbrennen Lake Road 2394.
