Setting
McGillivray Campground sits on the western shore of Lake Koocanusa in a dense conifer forest at 2,520 feet elevation. The facility features 33 total campsites, including two small group sites for up to 25 people each, and a large day-use group shelter holding up to 200. The large shelter site includes a rock fireplace, cooking grills, horseshoe pits, a 1-acre meadow, accessible vault toilets, and drinking water. The property also features a swim beach, picnic areas, and high- and low-water boat ramps providing water access to the 46,500-acre reservoir formed by Libby Dam.
Getting there: From Libby, travel 15 miles northeast on State Highway 37. Turn west on Forest Development Road 228 and continue for about 10 miles to the site.
