Hellgate Campground in MT -- Campground & RV Camping

Hellgate Campground sits along the banks of Canyon Ferry Reservoir in a broad valley between the Big Belt and Elkhorn mountains, shaded by a narrow riparian canopy. The facility offers 69 standard campsites with gravel pads, picnic tables, and fire rings, alongside the Hellgate Day Use Area which provides two boat ramps and trailer parking. Three distinct overnight group shelters sit on site: Lewis and Clark (15 sites, 30x60 shelter, 3 grills), York (10 sites, 30x60 shelter), and Hellgate Bay (5 sites, 30x36 shelter, 2 grills). All sectors feature communal fire rings and vault toilets.

Getting there: From Helena, MT: Head east along Co Rd 430/Canyon Ferry Rd from Helena, MT, continue for 38 miles to the Hellgate Campground and Group Use Shelter Area sign and turn right. Continue straight until you reach the campground. From Townsend, MT: Head north on Hwy 284 for 21 miles and turn left at the Hellgate Campground and Group Use Shelter Areasign. Continue straight until you reach the campground.
