Black Sandy State Park encompasses 43 acres on the western shore of Hauser Lake, a Missouri River reservoir situated 13 miles northeast of Helena at 3,904 feet elevation. Established in 1980 after transfer from Montana Power Company, the park sits along the Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail. Hauser Lake supports rainbow and brown trout, walleye, and perch. Visitors enjoy tent and RV camping, picnicking, fishing, boating, water skiing, and swimming, with hiking trails threading the park grounds.
