Mission Lookout is a historic 1959 fire detection cabin atop a 40-foot tower in Flathead National Forest. Sitting at 3,700 feet, the 15-by-15-foot facility overlooks the Mission Mountains, Swan Range, and Swan Lake. The cab sleeps four with a built-in double bed and two cots, plus a propane cookstove, small table, and chairs. At the base of the tower, guests will find a vault toilet, picnic area, and fire ring. There is no electricity or water on-site. Local trails serve hikers and mountain bikers, while nearby Swan Lake provides swimming, fishing, and waterfowl viewing.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
Swan River runs 0.3 mi off. Cabins and shelters rather than pads. Con Kelley Mountain stands 3,524 ft above the site, 6.0 miles northeast. The nearest town, Bigfork, is 16 mi off.
