Campground details
Setting
Located along Dry Wolf Creek at 5,600 feet in the Little Belt Mountains, this rustic single-room cabin sleeps five. The interior includes a propane cook stove, propane lighting, cookware, and a wood stove with supplied indoor firewood. An outdoor vault toilet is on site, but there is no electricity or running water, requiring visitors to bring drinking water, bedding, and supplies. Anglers fish for brook and rainbow trout in the creek, while nearby trails support hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking, off-road driving, and cross-country skiing.
Getting there: From Stanford, Montana, go a mile northwest on US 87, then turn left on County Road 251 (Dry Wolf Road). Continue for 15 miles and look for a sign to Dry Wolf Station. Turn left onto short parking spur of the cabin site.
- Well separated here, a single-site campground with the nearest through road 0.9 miles off.
- Gibson Peak stands 2,510 ft above the map pin, 2.0 miles southeast.
- Cabins and shelters rather than pads, with most of them shaded.
