Setting

Limited privacy

Set along the shore of the 27,750-acre Hungry Horse Reservoir in the Rocky Mountains, this campground contains five reservable tent and RV sites. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and bear-resistant food locker, while a vault toilet serves the ground. No drinking water is available on site, so campers must bring their own. Boat launches are accessible at adjacent parks, including Doris Point and Lost Johnny Point, and the West Glacier entrance to Glacier National Park lies 18 miles to the northeast.

Getting there: Turn off U.S. Highway 2 at milepost 144 and follow the West Side Hungry Horse Reservoir (Forest Road #895) across the Hungry Horse Dam. The campground is 6.5 miles south of the Dam. The road is paved to the site.

  • Limited separation from through roads or other sites here, a 5-site campground with the nearest through road 0.1 miles off.
  • The Hungry Horse Reservoir shoreline is 0.1 mi off.
  • Doris Ridge stands 3,585 ft above the map pin, 4.3 miles west.
  • Most of them shaded.
