Setting

Limited privacy

Big Creek Campground sits among mature pine and fir trees along the North Fork of the Flathead River in Flathead National Forest, just two miles from Glacier National Park's Camas Creek entrance. The site features 22 individual tent and RV campsites, a 200-person group camping area with campfire circles, accessible vault toilets, drinking water hand pumps, picnic tables, and fire rings with grills. Floating, canoeing, rafting, and trout fishing are primary river activities, and the Big Creek Outdoor Education Center sits directly across from the campground.

Getting there: From Columbia Falls, Montana, follow State Route 486 north for approximately 20 miles to the campground entrance on the right. The road is pavement for 10 miles and gravel for approximately 9 miles. An alternate route through Glacier National Park would be to enter the park through West Glacier. Take Glacier Route1 Rd/Going to the Sun Rd for 2 miles. Turn left onto Camas Rd for 11 miles. Turn left onto North Fork Rd for 2.7 miles of gravel. Campground will be on your left.

  • Limited separation from through roads or other sites here, a 23-site campground with the nearest through road 0.1 miles off.
  • Huckleberry Mountain stands 3,276 ft above the map pin, 1.3 miles east.
  • North Fork Flathead River runs 0.1 mi off.
  • 15 on the water, with most of them shaded.
