Horse Prairie Cabin is a two-room log dwelling set on a sunny prairie hillside along the southern edge of the Beaverhead Mountains. The cabin sleeps four people on bunk beds with mattresses and features a wood-burning stove, table, chairs, and propane lights, stove, and oven, along with kitchenware. Potable water is piped inside from June through September, and an outhouse sits nearby. Coyote Creek Road leads west toward Big Hole Divide, providing access to hiking, mountain biking, winter skiing, and local trout streams.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.

Private here -- the nearest through road is 1.1 miles off, a single-site campground. Cabins and shelters rather than pads -- most of them shaded. Frog Creek runs 0.8 mi off. The nearest town, Salmon, is 30 mi off.

September normals 4265°F, 1.6″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
