Birch Creek Cabin is a historic two-room log cabin situated at the confluence of Birch Creek and Thief Creek on the eastern slopes of the Pioneer Mountains. The cabin sleeps up to four people on bunk beds with mattress pads and features electric lights, a wood-burning stove for heat, and a kitchen with an electric cooktop, table, chairs, cookware, and utensils. An outhouse with a vault toilet sits 100 feet away, but no drinking water is provided. The surrounding area offers cross-country ski loops, old mining roads, alpine lake hiking trails, and a nearby forested picnic area.
The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.
Tower Mountain stands 2,853 ft above the site, 2.0 miles southwest. Thief Creek runs 0.1 mi off. Cabins and shelters rather than pads -- most of them shaded. The nearest town, Dillon, is 17 mi off.
