Setting
Persimmon Hill sits along the banks of the 16,000-acre Enid Lake, surrounded by pine and hardwood forests in northeast Mississippi. The campground contains 72 campsites with full hookups, flush toilets, three group shelters, a playground, and an interpretive trail. Direct boat ramps provide access to the lake, which is famous for record-setting white crappie fishing and annual tournaments. Surrounding the park are 44,000 acres of public forest laced with multi-use trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. Memphis, Tennessee, is located about an hour north.
Getting there: From I-55, take exit 233 onto County Road 36 south, cross the dam. Turn onto County Road 34 and continue 1 mile, following the signs into the campground.
