Setting
Delta National Forest features a flat landscape of bottomland hardwoods, seasonally flooded timber, and majestic bald cypress trees drained by the Big and Little Sunflower Rivers. Primitive campsites are spread throughout the forest, with four public restroom facilities located along Forest Service Roads 715, 717, 720, and 707. Potable water is available at the Delta Ranger District work center on FSR 703. Outdoor recreation includes canoeing, kayaking, hunting, fishing, hiking, and designated ATV riding, with cultural sites like the Mississippi Blues Trail an hour's drive away.
Getting there: From Jackson, MS- take I-20 towards Vicksburg; exit 5A towards Rolling Fork (US 61N); turn right on Hwy. 16 and travel for approximately 7 miles; turn right on the Delta National Forest.
