Setting
Council Bluff Recreation Area sits on a 440-acre, 87-foot-deep lake formed by a dam across the Big River in southern Missouri. The Wild Boar Ridge Campground provides single-family, walk-in, and group sites equipped with tables, lantern posts, campfire rings, and grills, accommodating RVs up to 40 feet without electricity. On-site facilities include vault toilets and drinking water, plus flush toilets, showers, a play area, and a 54,000-square-foot sandy beach at Chapel Hill Beach. Campers can access a 12-mile lake loop trail, two boat ramps for no-wake boating, and the nearby Trace Creek section of the Ozark Trail.
Getting there: From Potosi, take Highway P south for 10 miles to C Highway junction. Continue on C Highway for less than a mile to DD Highway junction. Turn left on DD Highway and continue for approximately 7 miles to the recreation area entrance.
