Setting
Perched above the Mississippi River in the Driftless Region, this 3,067-acre park features steep-sided bluffs rising 500 feet above the water, shaped by ancient sandstone and dolomite layers that glaciation never touched. The landscape includes distinctive goat prairies—rare 40- to 50-degree slopes supporting unique plant communities. A 31-site campground with showers and flush toilets serves the park, along with facilities for cyclists and the King's Bluff Nature Trail offering ridgetop hikes with river views. Northern white cedar remnants and restorative vegetation management preserve this Driftless landscape.
