This 1,567-acre park centers on a striking Precambrian quartzite escarpment reaching 100 feet high, popular for rock climbing. Twin reservoirs—Upper and Lower Mound Lake—provide fishing and swimming in Rock County's only lake. A resident bison herd varies between 65 and 100 animals. Historic features include a 1,250-foot line of rocks aligned by Plains Indians to mark equinox sunrise and sunset positions, and 1930s WPA-era picnic structures.
