Setting
McDougal Lake Campground sits at 1,800 feet elevation along the shores of 323-acre McDougal Lake in the Superior National Forest. The facility features a sandy swimming beach, a boat ramp, a solar-powered water pump, and vault toilets. It contains 13 first-come, first-served sites and 8 reservable drive-in and hike-in sites set in birch, maple, and pine woods. Note: Campsites 17 and 19, along with the one-mile hiking trail, are closed due to fire damage.
Getting there: McDougal Lake Campground is located on Forest Road 106, 10 miles west of Isabella, Minnesota. From MN-61, turn onto MN-1 at Illgen City and follow to Isabella. Proceed 10 miles west of Isabella to Forest Road 106. Turn left and continue a half-mile to the campground entrance.
