Setting
East Bearskin Lake Campground sits under red pine, balsam fir, and birch on the shore of 643-acre East Bearskin Lake, right at the edge of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. The layout features one large loop and three smaller loops with standard campsites, walk-in tent sites, and four primitive rental cabins sleeping five to seven people. On-site facilities include vault toilets, a solar water pump, fire rings with grills, picnic tables, and a boat ramp for motorboats and canoes. Portages link to Flour Lake, with nearby access to hiking, biking, and cross-country ski trails.
Getting there: East Bearskin Lake Campground is located 26 miles from Grand Marais, on the historic Gunflint Trail. From Duluth, take Highway 61 north to Grand Marais. Turn left (north) on Gunflint Trail and proceed about 26 miles to East Bearskin Road. Turn right and follow the signs to the campground.
