Setting
Lake Nineteen Campsite is a single, rustic forest site on the eastern shore of 26-acre Lake Nineteen in the Hiawatha National Forest. Located within the Ironjaw Semi-Primitive Area, the location connects to the Pine Marten Run Trail, allowing access by foot, boat, or horseback from the Middle Trailhead about 2.5 miles away. The site hosts up to eight campers, but has no drinking water or toilets. A steep, firm back-in boat launch reaches the water, which is stocked with rainbow trout, though trailer parking at the top of the hill is small. Swimming quality is poor. Groceries sit six miles away.
Getting there: From the intersection of US-2 and Forest Highway 13 (about 14 miles east of Rapid River): drive north 18.7 miles on Highway 13 to County Road 440. Turn right (east) on CR 440 and drive 4.6 miles to FR 2733. Turn left (north) and drive 1.3 miles to the parking area.
- Well separated here, a single-site campground with the nearest through road 1.1 miles off.
- The Nineteen Lake shoreline is 0.1 mi off.
- Open country, with nothing named rising within 30 miles.
- Mostly tent-only sites, with 1 hike-in site and one on the water.
