Setting
Colwell Lake Campground sits in a deciduous and conifer forest along the eastern shore of 145-acre Colwell Lake. Sites include individual family plots, a 24-person group area, and lakeside tent-only sites, all equipped with campfire rings, lantern posts, and tent pads, alongside vault toilets and drinking water. A boat ramp with a launching pier accommodates anglers fishing for bass, pike, and perch. On-site facilities feature a sandy swimming beach, a picnic area with pedestal grills, an accessible fishing pier, and a 2-mile loop trail for hiking and snowshoeing.
Getting there: From Manistique, Michigan, drive north 25 miles on State Route 94 to Forest Road 2246. Turn right (east) and drive 0.5 miles to the campground road.
