Assateague Island National Seashore Campground sits on a 37-mile barrier island featuring beaches, salt marshes, and maritime forests. The campground offers oceanside and bayside individual sites, oceanside group sites, and non-electric equestrian sites. On-site facilities include vault toilets, drinking water, unheated showers for rinsing sand, and dump stations. Visitors can access sandy beaches for swimming, surfing, fishing, and crabbing, with wild horses and sika deer roaming the surrounding terrain. An Over-Sand Vehicle zone is located nearby on the island's beach strip.

Getting there: Follow US Route 50 east to MD Route 611 south. Proceed over the Verrazano Bridge. Take the first right onto BayBerry Drive. Continue 2.25 miles (3.6 km) to the entrance station. An entrance fee is required unless you possess an America the Beautiful annual or lifetime pass. Take the first right to the ranger station to register and check in.
