Setting
West Hill Park spans 567 acres of pine and oak forest, meadows, and wetlands where the West River forms a large pool. The day-use area features two sandy swimming beaches, five miles of hiking and biking trails, a volleyball court, an accessible playground, flush toilets, grills, and a beach change house. Three group picnic shelters accommodate up to 30 or 100 people. The calm river and lowland pools provide fishing for trout, bass, and pickerel, while two miles of dedicated woodland paths offer views of the river and surrounding wildlife habitats.
Getting there: Take State Route 146 to the Whitinsville exit and turn left off the ramp. Go straight through Whitinsville to Route 122. Turn right and continue to East Hartford Avenue. Turn left and follow brown Army Corps direction signs.
