Buckhorn Campground sits near the dam on 1,230-acre Buckhorn Lake in Kentucky's Cumberland Plateau, home to the nation's largest recorded River Birch tree. The rugged landscape consists of steep watersheds and winding valleys feeding into the Kentucky River. Facilities include electric hookups, flush toilets, hot showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, and a dump station. On-site recreation features a boat ramp, swimming area, nature trail, basketball court, playground, and horseshoe pits. Daniel Boone National Forest and Red River Gorge Geological Area are nearby.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.
