Old Kuttawa Recreation Area sits on the northern shore of the 57,900-acre Lake Barkley, close to the canal connecting it to Kentucky Lake. This day-use park features a swimming beach, two large picnic pavilions, an amphitheater, a playground, restrooms, paved parking, and scattered picnic tables with grills under shade trees. Foot traffic centers on the half-mile Anderson Woodland Trail for birding and viewing tall regional hardwoods. Water activities include swimming, boating, and fishing, with the Land Between the Lakes area situated nearby to the west.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.

The Lake Barkley shoreline is 0.1 mi off. Night skies measure Bortle 4 -- a rural sky with a glow on the horizon. Open country -- nothing named rises within 30 miles of here. The nearest town, Eddyville, is 2.4 mi off.

September normals 6083°F, 3.5″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
