Setting
Dewey Lake Shelters offer a day-use area with four covered picnic shelters on grassy lawns along the lake. Shelters include electric hookups and access to playgrounds, restrooms, and a nearby hiking trail. The area also manages the Dewey Lake Primitive Campground, a lakefront site with 10 walk-in or boat-in spots featuring picnic tables, fire rings, lantern posts, a water spigot, and portable toilets. The lake hosts fishing for bass and catfish, while adjacent Jenny Wiley State Resort Park provides boat rentals, a marina, and multi-use mountain biking and hiking trails.
Getting there: From US 23 turn at the red light toward Highlands Hospital (Route 302) for about one mile, turn right onto Route 3 for about 1.5 miles; after 1st over pass turn right onto 302 Lake Road, take left at bottom of ramp and Dewey Recreation Area Entrance is one mile on right, Project Office is 1.25 miles on right.
