Setting
Tailwater Campground lies along the Barren River directly below the dam, less than a mile from Barren River Lake. The site features 48 campsites equipped with water and electric hookups, alongside an amphitheater, playground, beach volleyball court, horseshoe pit, and sports field. A dump station, potable water, and pit toilets remain available year-round. Adjacent to the stilling basin, the day-use area adds picnic sites, a pavilion, and a basketball court. Hikers can use the Steen Bergen Nature Trail, while the river offers fishing for catfish and bass.
Getting there: From Glasgow, KY: Take 31-E south for 4 mi; turn right on 252, which will cross the dam in 8 mi. The Tailwater entrance road is at the south end of the dam. Follow signs into recreation area. Approximately 19 miles from Bowling Green, KY.
