Setting

Little privacy

Holmes Bend Campground sits along the forested banks of Green River Lake on Kentucky's Highland Rim. The park offers 125 campsites, including 102 with electric or water hookups, supported by flush toilets, showers, drinking water, fire rings, a playground, and an interpretive trail. Multi-use trails for hiking and horseback riding run near the entrance. Within a mile, a full-service marina manages a boat ramp, courtesy dock, fishing pier, swim beach, and rental cabins. Anglers fish the 8,000-acre lake for walleye, muskie, and bass, while Mammoth Cave National Park is an hour away.

Getting there: From Columbia, KY, take Cumberland Parkway to exit 49 and merge onto Highway 55 north. Continue for 1.5 miles, then turn right on Highway 551. After a mile turn left on Holmes Bend Road and follow directional signs to the campground.
