Setting
Sylvan Park Campground is located in mixed-grass prairie below the Wilson Lake dam, with campsites overlooking the Saline River and its old river channel. The park offers 27 reservable modern sites, an 8-site group camp, and a 50-person shelter, alongside a sand volleyball court, playground, and hiking access via the 3/4-mile Bur Oak Nature Trail. A nearby boat ramp accesses Wilson Lake for water sports and fishing for striped bass, walleye, and catfish, while surrounding public lands offer seasonal game hunting.
Getting there: From Interstate 70, north of Wilson, Kansas, take exit 206 and turn north onto Highway 232. Continue for 8 miles, then turn right onto Highway 181 and follow signs to the campground.
