Setting
Cherryvale Park is situated among the oak-hickory woods and prairies surrounding Big Hill Lake. The park provides 22 campsites and one full-hookup group site with a shelter. Facilities include a seasonal restroom and shower building, year-round pit toilets, and shaded picnic areas near the shore. Visitors have access to a nearby sand swimming beach at Moundvalley Park. The lake offers boat fishing for bass and catfish, while the 17-mile Big Hill Lake Horse Trail routes through the surrounding hardwood ridges for hiking and horseback riding.
Getting there: From Highway 169 in Cherryvale, Kansas, turn east onto Main Street. Continue through the town and turn right onto Olive Street. After half a block turn left onto County Route 5000. Continue 4.5 miles to the lake and follow signs to the park.
