Setting
Venango Park Campground lies on the eastern, tree-lined shore of Kanopolis Lake along the Smoky Hill River in central Kansas. Surrounded by prairie, sandstone bluffs, and marshland, the facility offers 126 campsites with options for water and electric hookups, electric-only, or primitive setups. Amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, a dump station, boat ramp, swim beach, playground, and an internal 1.7-mile hiking trail. A 5-acre ATV trail is located on site, while nearby historical sites include the Fort Harker Museum and Rogers Art Gallery.
Getting there: From the North: Take HWY 140 to HWY 141. Travel south on HWY 141, then 1/2 mile west on Venango Road; look for signs to the park. From the South: Take HWY 4 to HWY 141. Travel north on HWY 141, then 1/2 mile west on Veanago Road; look for stigns to the park.
