Central Avenue Walk-in Sites in IN -- Campground & RV Camping in Indiana

Located within Indiana Dunes National Park, Central Beach Walk-In Sites features 5 walk-in tent campsites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. A vault toilet is situated nearby in the Central Beach parking lot, but there is no drinking water available on site. The surrounding 15,000-acre park encompasses sand dunes, oak savannas, bogs, and forests, bordered by 15 miles of Lake Michigan shoreline. Central Avenue Beach sits less than 5,000 feet away, and the area provides access to 50 miles of trails, historic sites like Chellberg Farm, and a South Shore Railroad passenger station 1.5 miles away.

Getting there: The Central Ave Beach Parking Lot is one mile (1.6 km) north of the intersection of Central Avenue and U.S. Highway 12 in the Town of Pines. NOTE: It is not possible to drive directly to the campsites. Each campsite is a walk of between .1 and .6 miles from the Central Avenue Beach Parking Lot, including a large hill with uneven terrain to get to each site.
