North Sandusky Day Use Area occupies the wooded shores of Rend Lake in Southern Illinois, set among oak, hickory, and maple trees. Built for day recreation and gatherings, the facility features two reservable group picnic shelters holding up to 50 guests each, complete with tables, grills, and drinking water. Walking paths connect the shelters to a boat ramp, boat dock, playground, and an on-site disc golf course. Visitors can access the paved, 20-mile Rend Lake Bike Trail directly from the park, while the Rend Lake Visitor Center, dog park, and Blackberry Nature Trail are nearby.
Getting there: From I-57 take take exit 77, and turn west onto Route 154. Continue for 4.5 miles, then turn south on Rend City Road. Continue through the stop sign to the park entrance.
