River Side Campground sits along the Deadwood River at the north end of Deadwood Reservoir, positioned in a shaded pine forest at 5,300 feet elevation. This primitive facility features waterfront tent and RV sites with direct river access, dirt parking spurs, drinking water, and a vault toilet located uphill. A boat ramp is located two miles away at Cozy Cove Campground. Anglers fish the river and lake for salmon and trout, and surrounding trails accommodate hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and off-road vehicles.

Road difficulty 4 of 5 -- a difficult drive in. Recorded as maintained only for high-clearance vehicles, dirt, pitching to 10%, 20% of it on a shelf.

Wild Buck Peak stands 2,521 ft above the site, 2.8 miles north. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.2 miles off, an 8-site campground. Most of them shaded. Deadwood Creek runs 0.4 mi off. The nearest town, Cascade, is 22 mi off.
