Lower Penstemon Campground sits at 6,600 feet along Rock Creek Road in southern Idaho, shaded by mixed conifers and aspens. The facility offers single-family campsites furnished with picnic tables and campfire rings. Shared amenities include drinking water, vault toilets, and gravel parking spurs. Rock Creek runs right alongside the campground, providing trout fishing opportunities. Several multi-use trailheads begin nearby, including the Third Fork, Pike Mountain, Rim View, and Porcupine Spring trails.
All 0.2 miles in are maintained for passenger cars. Graded dirt the whole way in (0.2 miles).
Pike Mountain stands 1,095 ft above the site, 0.7 miles southeast. Exposed here -- the nearest through road is 0.1 miles off, a 7-site campground. Most of them shaded. Elk Corral Spring lies 0.4 mi off. The nearest town, Hansen, is 23 mi off.
