Setting
Sitting at a 4,500-foot elevation on the shores of Williams Lake, this site features a fully accessible picnic area with five tables overlooking the water and surrounding peaks. The grounds include a lakefront fishing area, a trailhead for the Thunder Mountain National Historic Trail at the end of FR 028, and a secondary trail leading to two walk-in or boat-in campsites. A commercial resort on the south shore provides a tackle shop and restaurant, while the lake itself supports trout fishing in the open season and ice fishing in winter.
Getting there: From Salmon, go 15 miles south on US 93 and Forest Road 028. Go past the Williams Lake Resort to north side of the lake.
