Setting
Meadow Lake Campground is an alpine facility located at 9,160 feet in the Lemhi Mountain Range, sitting along the banks of 13.3-acre Meadow Lake at the foot of Meadow Lake Peak. Surrounded by lodgepole and whitebark pines, the layout includes 13 single campsites and 4 double sites, all furnished with picnic tables, tent pads, campfire rings, and prep tables. On-site amenities include drinking water, two vault toilets, and a day-use picnic area. Visitors come to fish for stocked trout directly from the shoreline or via hand-launched boats, and to hike nearby trails like the loop trail.
Getting there: From Leadore drive 17 miles south on Highway 28 and turn right (west) on to Forest Service Road #002 at the old Gilmore Townsite. Follow the gravel road for 6 miles as it climbs 2,080 feet to the campground.
