Walker Cabin is a 1930s historic shelter sitting at 4,500 feet in the Nez Perce National Forest near the Gospel-Hump Wilderness. The dense, moist forest setting hosts wildlife ranging from elk to mountain goats. Indoors, the rustic cabin features two bedrooms with four single beds total, a fireplace wood insert, a wood cook stove, and furniture; a vault toilet and woodshed sit outside. There is no running water or electricity. The area draws visitors for trout fishing on Crooked River, hunting, snowmobiling, and hiking trails that lead to Orogrande Summit and nearby mountain lakes.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad.

Crooked River runs 0.1 mi off. Moose Butte stands 2,702 ft above the site, 3.8 miles southeast. Cabins and shelters rather than pads. The nearest town, Grangeville, is 32 mi off.

September normals 3871°F, 1.4″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
