Setting
Kalispell Island sits at an elevation of 2,400 feet on Priest Lake, offering 51 individual boat-in campsites and one group site on its 264 acres. These primitive shoreline sites include picnic tables and campfire rings; campers must bring portable toilets, carry in drinking water, and pack out all waste. A 2.5-mile loop trail encircles the tooth-shaped island for walking and bird watching. The surrounding 25,000-acre lake provides access to trout fishing and boat routes up a 3.5-mile thoroughfare to Upper Priest Lake, with mainland hiking trails located across the water.
Getting there: Access to the campground is by boat only. To reach various boat launches around the lake, travel north from Priest River, Idaho on State Highway 57.
