Deadwood Lookout Recreation Cabin is a historic 1934 Civilian Conservation Corps fire lookout atop Deadwood Mountain at 7,482 feet. The 14x14-foot room features an exterior catwalk, two single beds with mattresses, a wood stove, table, chairs, broom, and dustpan. Outside, a vault toilet, picnic table, and campfire ring sit below the structure. There is no water, electricity, or firewood provided. Nearby trails like Scott Mountain, Julie Creek, Nellie's Basin, and Deadwood Ridge cater to hikers, mountain bikers, off-road vehicle riders, and equestrians in the surrounding forest.

The road in has not been measured -- unknown, not bad. Flat ground is scarce -- under a tenth of the terrain within a few hundred yards is level.

Secluded here -- the nearest through road is 2.7 miles off, a single-site campground. Cabins and shelters rather than pads. The nearest town, Cascade, is 32 mi off.

September normals 3768°F, 1.0″ rain. Monthly averages, PRISM 1991–2020.
