Setting
Alturas Area Picnic B is a day-use facility along the sandy shoreline of Alturas Lake at the base of the Sawtooth Mountain Range. Surrounded by a mixed conifer forest, the site features one accessible group picnic area for up to 50 people, equipped with vault toilets, drinking water, and trash collection. The Smokey Bear Boat Ramp is located less than a quarter-mile away, offering access to the lake for boating, kayaking, and fishing. The 10-mile round-trip Alpine Meadows Trail begins nearby, and Alturas Creek flows adjacent to the area.
Getting there: From Stanley, Idaho, take State Highway 75 south for about 22 miles. Turn right on Alturas Creek Road/Forest Road 205 and continue west for about 2.6 miles to the campground.
