Setting
Shady Creek Campground covers 22 wooded acres along the banks of the Mississippi River in eastern Iowa. The park offers shaded campsites equipped with 50-amp electric hookups, fire rings, and picnic tables, supported by flush toilets and showers. On-site facilities include a boat ramp, a playground, a horseshoe pit, and a nature trail for shore fishing and birdwatching. Channel catfish and walleye draw anglers to the riverbank. Wildcat Den State Park is just to the north, featuring hiking trails and the historic 1848 Pine Creek Grist Mill.
Getting there: From Davenport, Iowa, drive west on Highway 22 about 17 miles and turn at the Shady Creek sign.
